Kate Ballou
Kate Ballou’s love for furniture design and intentional interiors inspired her to found Hendrick Interiors as an outlet for creative expression and rewarding collaborations. Through her work, Kate creates spaces that are both visually beautiful and intellectually informed.
Kate has always been captivated by the ways multi-faceted contrast can create intrigue in a space. When selecting furniture, she keeps in mind not only the balance of the proportions and materiality of the pieces, but also the diversity of the cultures and eras from which they hail. Kate appreciates the warmth that a textured piece exudes when surrounded by those which are more stark, and the richness that is formed when pieces – antique and contemporary – from Scandinavia, France, America, and beyond stand together in harmony. Her knowledge of the construction and conventions of furniture from around the world and throughout history is significant and ever-growing.
An eye for detail and appreciation for exquisite design made studying textile design, drawing, and painting at Rhode Island School for Design a natural starting point for Kate. Transferring to Parsons The New School for Design, she earned her BFA in Interior Design and began her career working under top architects and designers in New York City and Washington, D.C. Kate launched Hendrick Interiors in 2013.
Kate is eager to continue working in collaboration with clients and industry peers alike on one-of-a-kind spaces designed to delight and “welcome home” for years to come.
